Today the Fat Man and I set off for a hike to Greeley Ponds, which are off of the Kancamagus Highway (or the Kanc as New Hampshire natives say).

Trail to Greeley Ponds |
This relatively easy trail has minimal elevation (about 430 feet).
If you go to both ponds—which we did—it’s about 4.5-5 miles round trip,
depending upon which guidebook you use.

Greeley Ponds Trail |
For most hikers, this is
an easy trail. There is a lot of
erosion, however, which means you are constantly stepping between tree
roots. At times it felt a bit like an obstacle course.
It was also quite
muddy. Fortunately, there are wooden planks
that run through the wet areas, but some are quite narrow and require a bit of
balance.
Another bridge was out,
which mean we had to cross a small stream, which I stumbled into... again!
Fortunately, the Fat Man lifted me up in time and my feet stayed dry, not to mention my derriere.
We had lunch at the first pond because there was a nicer beach area.

All in all it was a lovely day and a beautiful hike.
